A 28-year-old former actor committed suicide at his Oshiwara residence following a fight with his wife on Wednesday morning.
According to the Oshiwara police, Rahul Dixit (28) hailed from Jaipur in Rajasthan and had recently returned to Mumbai. “His wife found him dead in the bedroom of their Yamuna Nagar apartment at 4 a.m.. She immediately informed us,” senior police inspector Shailesh Pasalwar, Oshiwara police station, said.
Dixit, who had tied the knot in November last year, moved to Mumbai in December. “We do not have clarity over what he was doing. He used to take up acting assignments two years ago, before moving back to Rajasthan,” Mr. Pasalwar said.
While no suicide note was found, the police said Dixit took the extreme step following a fight with his wife. “Preliminary inquiry revealed that the couple had had a minor fight over a personal matter on Tuesday night,” Mr. Pasalwar said.
An autopsy was conducted at R.N. Cooper Hospital in Vile Parle. The Oshiwara police have registered an accidental death report.
