A fire broke out in a high-rise Beaumonde building at Prabhadevi area in Mumbai on Wednesday afternoon. No casualty has been reported yet.

Around 90-95 people have been evacuated from the building so far. The fire broke out on the 33rd floor of the building around 2 p.m. The fire brigade reached the spot at 2.16 p.m. Ten fire engines and five water tankers have been deployed to douse the fire.

It has been categorised as a Level-III major fire.

The building is home to many celebrities.

 

PTI adds:

Actor Deepika Padukone was not inside the 34-storey building where the blaze emanated from the top floor, according to fire department officials and sources close to the actor. Deepika has residence in one floor of the building and office in another, but both were unaffected by the fire, said the sources close to her.
