Movies conferred with National Awards this year will be screened

Panaji: The 64th National Award Winning Films Festival 2017 will be held in Panaji from May 18 to June 14. Filmmakers Madhur Bhandarkar and Kirtin Kulhari will be chief guests at the inaugural function.

This is for the first time that the latest National Award-winning films are being screened in Goa at a festival organised jointly by The Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) and the Directorate of Film Festivals. Rajendra Talak, vice-chairman, ESG said based on the response, the festival will be made an annual feature.

Kaasav , a Marathi film which won the Swarna Kamal for the Best Feature Film and Aaba Aikataay Naa? which won best direction in the non-feature film category at the National Awards this year will be screened on on Thursday.

Regional language award winning films to be screened are Joker (Tamil), Wrong Side Raju (Gujarati), Peli Chuplu (Telugu), Shakriya (Marathi), Maheshinte Prathikaaram (Malayalam), K Sera Sera (Konkani), Reservation (Kannada), Neerja (Hindi), Bisorjon (Bengali), Maj Rati Ketekai (Assamese).
