Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) and the Western Railway plan provide extra services for Shab-e-Baraat, which falls on Tuesday.

On this day, Muslims visit the graves of saints, and pray for fortune and forgiveness. The devout believe that wishes are granted on this night.

To cater to visitors at the Haji Ali dargah, BEST will be deploying eight extra buses on four routes through the night on May 1. The four routes are 88, 273, 357 and 356. The extra services will start at 10 p.m. on Tuesday.

The WR will also be running two special slow services between Churchgate and Virar. The service from Churchgate will depart at 2.35 a.m. on Wednesday and the other will leave from Virar at 1.42 a.m.

Suhail Khandwani, trustee, Mahim and Haji Ali dargahs, said they have appealed to youngsters through community newspapers to avoid rash and negligent driving. “We are also providing about 100 volunteers to help police in managing the crowd and vehicles.”
