Rajjat Barjatya passes away

Rajjat Barjatya, the managing director and CEO of Rajshri Entertainment Private Limited, the digital media arm of the six-decade-old Rajshri Productions, died of cancer at Jaslok Hospital on Friday evening. He is survived by his wife Neha and two daughters.

Mr. Barjatya, son of Ajit Kumar Barjatya, was also the founder and managing trustee of Rajshri Foundation, the non-profit social enterprise of Rajshri Group. He was actively involved in Rajshri Productions, which made several blockbusters such as Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Apke Hain Kaun and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.

Dr. Taran Gianchandani, CEO, Jaslok Hospital, said Mr. Barjatya died at around 6.30 p.m. Trade analyst Komal Nahta tweeted: “The very affable Rajjat Barjatya (s/o Ajit Barjatya) passed away 2 hours back due to cancer relapse. Can’t believe it. He was so full of life.”

The funeral will be at Worli crematorium at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
