Congress forms new committees, appoints presidents

Congress on Wednesday night announced coordination, campaign, pradesh election, publicity, media and communication, manifesto, and election management committees for Maharashtra. It also announced the names of new presidents for 13 party district committees.

Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Ashok Chavan will lead the pradesh election committee and All India Congress Committee (AICC)’s Maharashtra in-charge Mallikarjun Kharge will head the coordination committee.

Former Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde will be chairman of the campaign committee, while former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has been appointed chairman of the manifesto committee. Former Mumbai University vice-chancellor Dr. Bhalchandra Munagekar will be the convener of the manifesto committee.

Veteran journalist and Rajya Sabha MP Kumar Ketkar will handle the media and communication committee, while senior leader and party spokesperson Ratnakar Mahajan will be in-charge of the publicity and publication committee. Party group leader in Maharashtra Council, Sharad Ranpise will handle the works of the election management committee.

The party has also announced new presidents of 13 district committees including Raigad, Ulhasnagar, Mira-Bhayander, Panvel, Nasik, Wardha, Jalgaon, Chandrapur, Jalana, Osmanabad, Kolhapur (rural), Satara and Navi Mumbai.
