Change Dadar (East) station’s name: Cong.

July 12, 2019 01:07 am | Updated 01:07 am IST - Mumbai

While the Mumbai Monorail continues to be limp, Congress leaders have already started renaming its stations. On Thursday, around 30 Congress party workers entered the Dadar (East) station and stuck pictures proclaiming it as ‘Vitthal Mandir Wadala’ station all over the premises.

Raju Waghmare, spokesperson, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress, said the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) deliberately named it Dadar (East) to attract builders. “The station is built over the historic Vitthal Mandir, which is over 400 years old. The area continues to be called by this name, but the MMRDA insists on calling it Dadar (East). I have been pursuing this for over three years,” Mr. Waghmare said.
