On the morning of March 6, 2016, e Cell, IIT Bombay, will host its first-ever campus run. IIT Bombay gates will be open for everyone to register and participate in a campus run called the ‘IIT Bombay Run’

The Entrepreneurship Cell (e Cell) of IIT Bombay is organising the ‘IIT Bombay Run’ where students and alumni along with industry leaders and fitness enthusiasts are expected to participate.

For the fitness enthusiasts, it will be an opportunity of a lifetime to participate in a run around the picturesque IIT Bombay spread across 550-acre campus, nestled between two lakes of Powai and Vihar.

Participants of the ‘IIT Bombay Run’ can register on their website — www.iitbombayrun.com [http://www.iitbombayrun.com] or www.ecell.in/iitbrun [http://www.ecell.in/iitbrun] for any of the three categories suited to their fitness levels — 4 km walk, 11 km Lake run or 21 km half marathon. The run is open to all and registration is compulsory for participants.

The campus run aims to publicise and promote the ‘spirit of entrepreneurship’ in the country’s premier engineering institution. It will also be a melting pot for all stakeholders of these premier institutions — students, faculty, alumni, and industry leaders — and offer them an informal platform to network and connect. This also gives alumni of these educational institutions an opportunity to catch up with their batch mates, seniors and faculty and revisit their times as a student. The proceeds of the marathon will be directed towards improving facilities and various new student initiatives at the IIT Bombay campus.

Prof Soumyo Mukherji, Dean Student Affairs, IIT Bombay said, “We are delighted to host the runners and anchor this initiative. ‘IIT Bombay Run’ is a unique initiative that will bring together participation not just from our campus, but also from across the country. A super-enthusiastic e Cell team comprised of students of IIT Bombay who conceptualize and organize E-Summit at IIT Bombay every year, are driving this initiative with the help from mentors familiar with the logistics and process of organizing such runs.”

The Entrepreneurship Cell is a non-profit organisation run by the students of IIT Bombay that aims at manifesting the latent entrepreneurial spirit of the young students. —PTI
