Brothers held for abusing police officers

Elderly woman had filed complaint against her sons for throwing her out of the house

Two brothers were arrested for abusing officers of the Panvel City police at their home on Monday. The police had reached the house after Ananta Dilip Jadhav (65), the mother of Nagesh (33) and Bharat (34), had filed a complaint against her sons for throwing her out of the house at 2 a.m.

Police sub-inspector Nilesh Rajput said, “The sons were inebriated and hurled abuses at us when we asked them to look after their mother.” The police arrested the brothers, sent them for medical examination, and charged them under Sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 341 (wrongful restraint) of the Indian Penal Code. The brothers have been remanded in police custody till Wednesday.
