With the Congress facing its worst ever performance in Maharashtra's history, the Opposition BJP has called for the resignation of Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

"They have no moral right to continue in office. The Modi wave converted to a Tsunami in Maharashtra and has wiped out the Congress in Maharashtra," said senior BJP leader Vinod Tawde, who is leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council.
