Mumbai: The Esplanade court issued an arrest warrant on Tuesday against an accused in the Malvani hooch tragedy of June 2015.

Dharmendra Singh Tomar alias Sanjay Singh, 39, was arrested by the Thane Police Crime Branch in another hooch racket in Thane on Monday. He had been on the run since the tragedy, in which 106 people died after consuming spurious liquor. The court was adjourned till June 29, when the Mumbai Police will seek his custody.

Thane police officers said Singh was arrested while they were investigating a hooch racket busted in Mumbra late last year. Officials said his interrogation confirmed his involvement in the Mumbra and Malvani cases, after which he was placed under arrest and brought to Thane.
