The MIDC police arrested a 23-year-old Andheri resident on Wednesday for allegedly forcing himself on his colleague while she was under the influence of alcohol.

According to the police, the accused and the 25-year-old victim both work for an airline. The victim, in her complaint, has alleged that she had gone to the accused’s residence in the Sher-e-Punjab area in Andheri on Tuesday night.

“The victim and the accused had drinks together, after which the accused, taking advantage of her inebriation, raped her. On Wednesday, the victim approached us and after recording her detailed statement, we registered a complaint against him,” an officer with the MIDC police station said.

The officer said the victim, as per her statement, was also assaulted and had injury marks near her left eye as well as on her torso. Based on her statement, the police have booked the accused for rape and assault under the Indian Penal Code. “Following the registration of the complaint, we immediately sent a team to the accused’s residence and picked him up. He was later placed under arrest and produced in the Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court in Andheri, which remanded him in our custody till June 10,” the officer said.
