The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has signed an agreement with the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) Ltd to provide a comprehensive business accounting solution to manage small airports efficiently under the Regional Connectivity Scheme–UDAN.

MADC, which operates nine airports in the State and is the nodal agency for the scheme, will get AAI’s Sky Books 360, an integrated e-business solution for airport operators. Sky Books 360 is designed to meet all business management requirements using a single platform for smaller airport operators not only in India, but globally. This system will help State governments manage small airports going live under the Regional Connectivity Scheme–UDAN.

S. Suresh, member (finance), AAI, said Sky Books 360 is a customised enterprise resource planning (ERP) system for small airports, which automates business workflow and lets airport operators build layers of functionalities to support the unique business models.

The system is equipped with financial accounting reports, cash flow reports, payroll, central provident fund accounting, security passes, stock management system, budgeting, income tax module, GST reports, imprest management, engineering, bank reconciliation, cash flow and other needs customised to run the airport business flawlessly.

Thirteen airports across Maharashtra have been awarded to various airline operators under the scheme. “It is important to constantly monitor these airports. When there is a live feedback and reports available, work can be undertaken faster. The live airport tracking feature will also ensure minimise delays and control revenue management,” an MADC official said.

The AAI has already developed SkyRev360, a comprehensive e-data gathering, invoicing and collection system, in collaboration with the International Air Transport Association, under the Make in India initiative. Being compatible with any radar system in the world that can be hosted on cloud servers, SkyRev360 has been touted as a one-of-its-kind system that would help airport operators worldwide avoid revenue leakages, reduce redundancies and disputes, carry out easy integration with all external systems and curtail the debt collection period to the minimum.

“AAI is developing these platforms with an aim to generate more and better business opportunities and to maximise and enhance non-a eronautical revenues,” Mr. Suresh said.
