PANAJI: Shantaram Naik, Congress Rajya Sabha MP and AICC secretary, on Tuesday accused Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar of committing a breach of privilege of the Assembly by going back on the contents of the resolution passed unanimously recommending a special status to Goa.

Mr. Naik said a negative reply that Mr. Parrikar got from Prime Minister Narendra Modi was kept hidden and when Mr. Parsekar became the Chief Minister, Mr. Parrikar made Mr. Parsekar issue a statement that Goa should forget about the special status. The Congress leader said members of the Assembly are entitled to know as to what transpired between Mr. Modi and Mr. Parrikar or Mr. Parsekar and Mr. Modi.

Mr. Naik referred to the statement of BJP national spokesperson G.V.L. Narsinha Rao on November 8 in Goa that the chapter of providing special status to different States in the country with the backing of Indian Constitution is over.
