MUMBAI: The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) on Wednesday invited tenders for the design and construction of elevated viaducts and stations of two more Metro rail projects – DN Nagar to Mankhurd Metro-2B and Wadala to Kasarvadavali Metro-4.
With this these projects have been put on the fast track, the development authority said.
Tenders have been invited from eligible contractors for 5 packages on the 23.5-km long DN Nagar to Mankhurd Metro-2B corridor which will come up with an estimated cost of Rs.10,986 crore.
The 5 packages are – ESIC Nagar to Khira Nagar, Saraswat Nagar to ILFS in BKC, MTNL Metro to Chembur, Diamond Garden to Mandale (Depot) and for designing and constructing elevated viaducts for railway crossings near Kurla on Central Railway and near Lokmanya Tilak Terminus.
The tenders to design and construct elevated viaduct and stations on the 32-km long Wadala to Kasarvadavali metro which will come up with an investment of Rs.14,549 crore have also been invited for 5 packages.
These include Wadala to Amar Mahal Junction, Garodia Nagar to Surya Nagar, Gandhi Nagar to Sonapur, Mulund Fire Station to Majiwada and Kapurbawdi to Kasarvadavali, MMRDA said..
While the pre-bid meeting is scheduled to be held on January 31, 2017, interested contractors need to submit the tender documents by March 10, 2017.
Work for three more metros have already started and will complete in three to five years. The five metros once complete will help in easing road traffic and reducing over crowding of local trains.
