MUMBAI: Kin of a 24-year-old man suffering from hemophilia, a bleeding disorder, donated his heart and kidneys to three patients on Thursday. The Cuffe Parade resident was admitted to Wockhardt Hospital in Mumbai Central after he suffered from an intracranial bleed last week. He was declared brain dead on Tuesday after which the doctors counselled the family for organ donation.

While his heart went to a 29-year-old Nasik resident admitted to Fortis Hospital, his kidneys were given to patients admitted to Jaslok and Wockhardt hospitals. This is the city’s 37th heart transplant. This is the fifth organ donation of the year. So far, eight kidneys, five livers and two hearts have been donated.
