PANAJI: The Magistrate of north Goa on Monday extended by 60 days the ban on the entry of Pramod Muthalik, the leader of Sri Ram Sene, a Mangaluru-based right wing Hindu outfit, and its members or his associates to the district. The ban comes into effect on January 17.

“If Mr. Muthalik or any of his associates are not prevented from entry, it could lead to law and order problems.” The order said a report has been received from the Superintendent of Police, north Goa, stating that the entry of members of Sri Ram Sene and Mr. Muthalik is to be prohibited as their statements could affect peace, harmony and create fear in the minds of the public and tourists.

Mr. Muthalik had expressed his intent to start a branch of Sri Ram Sene in Goa, inviting criticism from minority communities and social groups.
