Mumbai: Seventy-year-old Pandit Khairnar was brought to JJ Hospital on Sunday in an ambulance. It was an exhausting eight-hour ride for Mr. Khairnar who had a swollen abdomen.

“The doctors back home could not understand the cause. So they sent us to JJ Hospital. When we landed here, the doctors were on strike,” Mr. Khairnar’s son Bhagwan said.

He also said while his father was admitted, nothing was done till a CT scan was carried out. “On Monday, when we went for the CT scan, they told us it cannot happen as the doctors are on strike,” he said.JJ Hospital gets patients from Mumbai as well as the rest of Maharashtra. Like Mr. Khairnar, many patients who landed at the hospital, got delayed services.
