Mumbai: Three people committed suicide in Nerul on Thursday in separate incidents, police said. While two victims were suffering from depression, the third was reportedly a jilted lover who was found hanging under mysterious conditions.

Police said Kishan Raval, 26, who was a part of a music band, was found hanging from a terrace window in Shanti Park society, Sector 23 on Thursday morning. According to police, he was in love with a 24-year-old girl from the same building who did not reciprocate his feelings. On Monday, when Raval followed her to her flat, the security guard and other residents asked him to leave and to stop harassing the girl.

On Tuesday, the girl, whose father is a BMC employee, filed a non-cognisable offence at Nerul police station. On Thursday morning, Raval was found hanging by the girl, as the window from which he hung himself was opposite her flat’s door. Police said a case of accidental death has been registered.

In the second incident, Priti Nilesh Tripathi, a 33-year-old divorcee, was found hanging at her residence in Shivtej Plaza, Sector 28. The victim had divorced eight years ago. She was staying with her 13-year-old daughter and worked at a car showroom. For the past few days, her daughter had been staying at her grandmother’s. “She was depressed and was a diabetic. As the body was partially decomposed, we suspect she might have killed herself a few days ago,” a police officer said.

In the third case, a senior citizen who was depressed as he was suffering from high blood pressure and diabetes was found hanging in his bedroom at his residence in Sector 20. Police said Ramchandran Shankaran Pillai, 69, is suspected to have committed suicide on Wednesday night.
