N.M. Joshi Marg police on Thursday arrested all three owners of 1Above pub in Kamala Mills compound in connection with a cheating case filed against them.

The trio — Kripesh Sanghvi, Jigar Sanghvi and Abhijeet Mankar — was booked on January 20 for allegedly deducting money from their employees’ salaries towards Provident Fund contributions and not depositing it into their accounts.

The police said that the trio allegedly cheated around 100 employees of ₹8.65 lakh. Virendra Mishra, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone III), said, “The three accused were arrested on Thursday and produced in court. They have been remanded in police custody till February 10.”

The PF department, while examining the paperwork of the company, found the alleged misconduct and alerted N.M. Joshi Marg police. The three accused were booked for criminal breach of trust under the Indian Penal Code and under other relevant sections of the Employees’ Provident Fund Act of 1952

The court granted the police permission to arrest the trio on Wednesday. “We are investigating where the money went,” said Mr. Mishra. The trio was arrested last month in connection with the fire that broke out in their pub on December 29. They were charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
