A 10-year-old girl, who went missing in Bandra on Saturday, was found in Nallasopara on Sunday evening.
The Bandra police said Aditi Shivsharan, a resident of the area, went missing near Mount Mary Church on Saturday. Nikhil Shivsaran, the girl’s brother, said, “Aditi did not return home after she left for her tuition classes at 6 p.m. We then approached Bandra police.”
Plea on social media
The police, in keeping with the procedure in the case of missing minors, registered a case of kidnapping against unknown persons under the Indian Penal Code and launched a search for her. Aditi’s family took to social media, posting her picture and requesting anyone who might have seen her to contact them.
On Sunday evening, Aditi was found by a woman aboard a Virar-bound train just as it was reaching Nallasopara station. Senior Police Inspector Girish Anavkar, Bandra police station, said, “Aditi was alone and crying, and the woman took her to the Nallasopara police station. The officers there quizzed her and found out that she is a Bandra resident, after which they called us.”
Mr. Anavkar added, “We sent a team to pick her up and handed her over to her family. She has also undergone a medical examination, and is completely unharmed.”
Saved money for trip
Police Sub Inspector Shantaram Naik, who was part of the team assigned with locating Aditi, said that she went to Nallasopara intending to visit her biological mother. Mr. Naik said, “Aditi lives with her father and stepmother in Bandra, while her biological mother stays in Nallasopara. She left to go to her tuition classes on Saturday with her piggy bank and used the money to take an autorickshaw to Bandra railway station. From there she boarded a train to Nallasopara but got scared and started crying.”
