Calicut University MBA students demand better facilities

Seek intervention of Vice Chancellor

Students of the School of Management Studies, Kozhikode, have sought the intervention of Calicut University Vice Chancellor for a better building with basic amenities in the city to conduct the MBA course.

In a memorandum sent to the Vice Chancellor, the students alleged that they were not even provided a clean and safe toilet inside the existing building, which was taken on lease several years ago without checking even the basic requirements.

Though there were five rooms initially to conduct the course, two were shut recently following the termination of the rental agreement by the building owner.

Subsequently, the office room, staff room and library were shifted to a single room, creating a chaotic situation for about 60 students. Though a smart classroom was one of the promises made to woo students, no such facility was provided.

Even the seating arrangement was made in an unprofessional way.

A girl student from the institute, which is directly functioning under the Calicut University, said the women’s toilet inside the building did not have roof or safe door. She said about 30 girl students, including a pregnant one, had to use this toilet.
