Many roadside eateries in the city were found to be working in unhygienic conditions during an inspection by a special squad of the health wing of the Kozhikode Corporation on Saturday morning.

A special squad of the health wing of the Kozhikode Corporation on Saturday morning sealed four wayside eateries at Palayam, U.K.S. Road and the surroundings of Azhakodi Devi Temple after they were found to operate in unhygienic circumstances.

A release quoting the health officer said that two of the six eateries that were examined did not have the mandatory licence from the civic body. Employees in the four eateries did not have health cards. Waste was found dumped on their premises. The oil used for cooking was found to be unhygienic, which could lead to intestine cancer.
