Though a tentative list of 37 candidates were released on Monday, uncertainty prevailed over the remaining eight seats allotted to the Congress in the Corporation. The situation caused much concern as the last date to file nominations is Wednesday.

The UDF leaders were uncertain about the final announcement though they refused to divulge any information. Upon enquiry, some affirmed that the final list will be out by evening, while some others went ahead inviting the media for a press meet at 3.30 p.m. However, there has been no word about the final list even late at night.

The IUML too has one more seat to fill before the final announcement is made.

Meanwhile, the candidates who have confirmed their seats have gone ahead with filing the nominations and kick starting their campaigns. Sitting councillors Vidya Balakrishnan, Usha Devi and Shobhita have been to their assigned wards from morning getting in touch with the voters. On the other had, freshers in the fray have the backing of some sitting councillors who are not contesting this time, or other prominent leaders who introduced them to the voters .
