Two get 7-year jail term for abusing minor boy

The Special Court for Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) cases here has sentenced two persons to seven years’ imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹50,000 each for sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy five years ago.

The court found Thekke Kurungod Ashokan, 50, of Kannadikkal, and Nadammal Pradeepan, 47, of Vengeri, guilty under sections of the POCSO Act. The penalty amount should be given to the victim. “If the accused fail to remit the penalty, they will have to serve an additional three more years in prison,” the court ordered.

According to the prosecution, the accused took the Class VIII student to an uninhabited house as well as to the residence of the accused and committed unnatural acts on the victim. The incident occurred in 2012.

The Chevayur police registered a case after the boy’s father filed a complaint with the Commissioner of Police, Kozhikode city.
