Traffic regulations will be in force in the city from Thursday in view of the 55th State School Arts Festival. City buses will be permitted to operate services on the main routes as usual at a speed limit of 30 km per hour, but long-distance buses and goods carriers will be diverted from various junctions to avoid possible traffic congestions.

Main changes will be on the Kozhikode-Kannur and Kozhikode-Wayanad national highways that lie near the main festival venue, the Malabar Christian College ground. All buses from the Mofussil bus stand to Vadakara, Thalassery and Kannur regions will be diverted via the beach road. These buses will have to move via the Pavamani-Mananchira-Moonnalingal-Corporation office road to reach the beach road and later enter the national highway at Vengali.

Buses from the Kannur-Vadakara side to Mofussil bus stand will be diverted from West Hill-Chungam Junction via Karaparamba-Eranhipalam-Arayidathupalam road.

Buses to Perambra and Kuttiyadi regions will have to take the diversion from Woodland Junction and proceed to their destinations via Puthiyara-Arayidathupalam-Eranhipalam-Karaparamba-West Hill-Chungam- Pavangad road.

The return services to Mofussil bus stand will be diverted from West Hill Chungam Junction.

Services to Wayanad and Thamarassery regions too will be diverted from Woodland Junction. Puthiyara-Arayidathupalam-Eranhipalam stretch of the national highway will be used for the diversions. Similarly, their return services to the Mofussil bus stand will be via Eranhipalam Junction.

Senior traffic police officers said that goods vehicles would not be allowed to enter the city via West Hill-Chungam, Karaparamba, Eranhipalam, Gandhi Road, Beach Road and Francis Road Junctions.

One-way traffic would be in force on the Tali K.R.S. Road from Poonthanam Junction. Parking along the Kannur and Wayanad national highways too would be banned.
