Sudheeran asks Pinarayi to quit

‘CM has lost moral ground after court verdict in Periye case’

Congress leader V.M. Sudheeran has said that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has no moral grounds to continue in the post following the observation of the Kerala High Court that the investigation in the twin murder case at Periye in Kasaragod was a sham.

He told journalists here on Tuesday that the Chief Minister, who was holding the Home portfolio, remained unfazed even as the court pulled up the Crime Branch for the shoddy probe into the killings of Youth Congress workers Kripesh and Sarath Lal on February 17. The court had issued a directive to the CBI to take over the investigation from the Crime Branch while quashing the chargesheet filed by the Crime Branch, the former KPCC president said.

He also likened the attitude of the Chief Minister to that of an autocrat without considering the opinion of others. The court ruling also indicated the tactics of the CPI(M) to employ the police for its violent politics. The police were unable to protect the life and property of the citizens. While the CPI(M) was resorting to political violence in the State , the BJP was fomenting communal hatred in the country, Mr. Sudheeran said.

He alleged that the State government had also failed to disburse the compensation to the victims of floods even after a High Court order in this regard.
