Stage events of Kozhikode school arts festival from Tuesday

More than 12,000 students from across district to take part in four-day fete

The stage events of the Kozhikode Revenue District School Arts Festival will begin on Tuesday (November 19) with Mayor Thottathil Raveendran opening the fete at 4 p.m. at BEM Higher Secondary School, Mananchira. A procession heralding the festival will be organised on Monday, while the flag-hoisting will be held at 9.30 a.m. on Tuesday.

18 stages

The events will be conducted on 18 stages set up at nine venues across the district from November 19 to 22. The stages have been named after various events connected to the freedom struggle, in honour of Mahatma Gandhi to mark his 150th birth anniversary. Stages 1 and 2 are at BEM School; Stage 3 at Mahila Mall Ground; Stage 4 at Mahila Mall Auditorium on Wayanad Road; Stages 5 and 6 at Ganapath Boys’ High School Ground and Hall; Stages 7, 8, 9 and 10 at Zamorin’s Higher Secondary School, Thali; Stage 11 at GUPS, Thali; Stage 12 at Sports Council Hall, Mananchira; Stages 13 and 14 at Government TTI for Men; Stages 15, 16 and 17 at Government Achuthan Girls’ Higher Secondary School at Chalappuram; and Stage 18 at Government Ganapath Boys’ Higher Secondary School Ground at Kallai.

More than 12,000 students in upper primary, high school and higher secondary categories from the district are taking part in the four-day festival.

There are 309 events altogether, including off-stage events, Arabic and Sanskrit festivals. The off-stage events were held on Friday at BEM School. More than 1,300 students took part in 72 off-stage events held in 22 classrooms of the school.

Food for participants and accompanying teachers will be made available at Government Model Higher Secondary School, Mananchira, where 10 counters have been set up.

The festival will follow the green protocol in an effort to reduce the amount of waste generated.

Minister for Labour and Excise T.P. Ramakrishnan will distribute prizes at the valedictory ceremony of the festival to be held at BEM School at 6 p.m. on November 22.
