‘Light Fall’ is all about light and the wonders that it creates in the universe. The photography exhibition organised by the Calicut Photo Club at the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi Art Gallery in Kozhikode is an exploration by a few youngsters into the various possibilities of light. Here we find what happens to light when it goes through various objects, thus imparting them colour. Many a nostalgic moment has been captured thus and frozen in time by these young photographers.

Around 50 photographers of the club have come together to showcase around 150 photographs that belong to various genres of photography. Some of them are quite skilled and holds great promise for the future. As for the others, they make up for their lack of skill with brilliant imagery and thoughtful frames.

Jephin Thomas’ play of colours is what captures a viewer first. Agni Soonu has come up with a few picture perfect landscapes while Jerry’s photos take one directly to the lap of nature. Anoop has captured a landscape in a bubble while it was wild elephants that got caught in Ajal Raj’s lens.

The night sky has been captured in unusual settings to give a surreal feel in Arun Mathew’s photographs. Milan. K. Manoj is in tune with nature as he explores the meadows and hills with his lens. The exhibits end with a rainbow above Kozhikode as a quiet reminder of the youngsters’ love for the city.

The Calicut Photo Club is an online group founded in 2008 by a group of amateur photographers, whose passion for photography rivalled with their love for Kozhikode, though not all of them reside in the district. The club is noted for the various discussions and journeys that it had organised in the past related to photography.

The exhibition was inaugurated by noted musician Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri on Wednesday. It will conclude on June 14.
