Alleged corruption in construction of houses for flood-hit people

Kozhikode District Congress Committee (DCC) president T. Siddique has criticised Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) State secretary A.A. Raheem’s remarks against Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Mullappally Ramachandran over the construction of houses for flood-hit people.

‘Prove charge’

Addressing mediapersons in the city on Monday, Mr. Siddique challenged Mr. Raheem to prove his charge of corruption in the utilisation of funds collected by the Congress for building houses.

Mr. Raheem had alleged corruption in view of the Congress now claiming that it would build only 500 houses instead of the earlier promised 1,000.

Slams DYFI activists

He alleged that the attempt was to show decent political leaders in bad light.

Mr. Siddique claimed that it was not Congress activists but DYFI leaders who were accused of stealing articles from flood relief camps.

The Congress leader claimed that A. Pradeep Kumar, MLA, was a close friend of the owner of the private firm, which had been termed unqualified to construct a sewage treatment plant under the Centre’s Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme.
