Sheltering accused: youth held

The police on Wednesday arrested Ahammad Jabir, 20, a native of Pallam locality, on the charge of sheltering those involved in desecrating a place of worship at Meepuguri here in February last year.

Ahammad Jabir was employed in a bakery in Ernakulam, Kasaragod Town station sub-inspector T. Uthamdas said. A local court remanded Ahammad Jabir in judicial custody till October 1.

Ahammad Jabir reportedly told the police that he had sheltered four of the five accused at Perumbavoor.

The arrest was on the basis of information received by Deputy Superintendent of Police M.P. Mohana Chandran Nair.
