National film award winner Surabhi Lakshmi was accorded a royal reception at her hometown of Narikkuni on Monday.
The reception committee, comprising local body members and villagers, arranged a fully decked up traditional horse cart to lead the actor to the venue.
Unmindful of the sudden showers, hundreds of people thronged the venue and congratulated Ms. Laskhmi on her achievement.
Nashik Dhol band and Chendamelam troupes drummed up excitement. Theyyam artistes were also part of the cultural procession, which displayed the affection of an entire village for the artiste who had done them proud.
Honoured
Representatives of various socio-cultural organisations honoured the artiste. Film actors Joy Mathew and Rima Kallingal were present.
Karat Razak, MLA, presided over the function that also honoured persons who had helped Ms. Lakshmi scale the heights of success. Comedian Nirmal Palazhi and his team put up a special performance that enlivened the function.
