SDPI to take out march

The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) will take out a march to the office of the Additional Director General of Police on May 20 to press its demand to investigate the alleged conspiracy behind the murder of Muhammed Riyas, a madrasa teacher, inside a mosque at Choori in Kasaragod district two months ago.

At a press meet here on Thursday, SDPI State leaders, including P. Abdul Hameed, N.U. Abdussalam and Mustafa Komeri, alleged that the police had been unable to probe the conspiracy angle though Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had stated in the Assembly that the murder was a plot of the RSS to create disturbances in the State. The decision of the Home Department to appoint police officers outside the district also created suspicion about the ongoing probe, they said.

A special team had already arrested three youths in connection with the case. The accused had confessed to stabbing the madrasa teacher under the influence of liquor and ganja.
