“The CPI(M) has formed a ‘Sambar alliance’ with the IUML and the Congress in certain parts of the State against the BJP for the polls. This is a sure formula for disaster,” says K. Surendran, BJP State general secretary.
Speaking to presspersons here on Tuesday, Mr. Surendran challenged both the UDF and the LDF to give up the hide-and-seek game and to confront the BJP as a single front.
“It was not long ago that the then CPI(M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan condemned the Talibanisation of the IUML.
The same person is now applauding the secular nature of the IUML,” Mr. Surendran said.
He condemned the report that the campaign posters of some of the female candidates of the IUML and the CPI(M) carried only the faces of their husbands, and termed it demeaning.
“The end seems to nearing for the LDF and the UDF,” he said.
Probe derailed
About the party’s recent alliance with the SNDP and the controversy surrounding the death of Swami Saswathikananda 13 years ago, Mr. Surendran said that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy as well as former Chief Ministers A.K. Antony and V.S. Achuthanandan were responsible for derailing the investigation of the case all these years.
“Let them abandon politics and go to Kashi. They should apologise to the public,” he said.
