‘Report vacancies in cooperative banks on time’

December 21, 2018 01:18 am | Updated 01:18 am IST - Kozhikode

The Kerala State Human Rights Commission has asked the Registrar of Cooperative Societies to report mandatory vacancies in cooperative banks to the Kerala Public Service Commission on time.

Commission judicial member P. Mohanadas on Thursday ordered that any vacancies arising out of retirements or promotions could be reported to the PSC then itself instead of appointing temporary staff. Steps should also be taken to appoint the staff as per the PSC rank list though district cooperative banks are being merged to form Kerala Bank.

The order follows a complaint filed by a person whose name was on the rank list for district cooperative banks published in January last.

However, the registrar pointed out in a report to the commission that there were some restrictions in sanctioning new posts in district cooperative banks as the process for the setting up Kerala Bank had already begun.
