The students of S.I. Higher Secondary School, Ummathur, Kozhikode, organised various programme in connection with a reading day observance at the school on Wednesday. Malayalam writer P.K. Parakkadavu interacted with the students at the school.
Mr. Parakkadavu said different religious groups created a division in the young minds through their educational programmes and systems. Terming people from other communities as ‘avar’ (they) instead of making children realise that ‘they’ are part of ‘nammal’ (we/us) was making all the problems in society, he said.
Expressing grief and disappointment at the repeated incidence of violence in the Nadapuram region, the writer said art, literature, and cultural interventions would help bring about permanent peace.
