Reboot-18 ends, gifts hope to hundreds of IT job aspirants

4,000 persons attend job fair organised as part of tech conference

Reboot-18, the two-day annual tech conference hosted by the Calicut Forum for Information Technology (CAFIT), drew to a close at the Government IT Park here on Sunday, giving an opportunity to hundreds of job aspirants to clear their first round of tests with major IT companies. Organisers said there were around 4,000 persons who attended the job fair organised as part of the tech conference.

About 40 IT companies took part in the event and completed their first round of screening of potential candidates. The job aspirants were allowed to choose five companies each and attend interviews.

Addressing the final day session, District Collector Seeram Sambasiva Rao said the effort to develop professional skills was crucial for exploring new avenues of the technological world. He called upon young techies to contribute their best to support and improve the public governance system.

Mr. Rao addressed the chief executive officers of IT company separately and called for their support to improve e-governance initiatives. He explained his vision of setting up a core team of senior IT experts to drive important governance projects. Responding to the Collector’s call, some CEOs came out with various proposals in their respective areas of expertise.

Addressing the conference, P.T.A. Rahim, MLA, said he would ensure all support from the State government to create an attractive IT ecosystem at the park. Efforts would also be taken to attract big corporates to Kozhikode’s emerging IT sector, he added.
