Pre-monsoon cleaning drive

May 25, 2013 11:07 am | Updated 11:07 am IST - Kozhikode:

The District Suchitwa Mission is all set to launch its monsoon disease prevention activities for the year in association with various departments.

‘Suchitwa’ squads will be formed in every ward to lead the cleaning activities. The squads will chalk out the work to be carried out in specific wards. Ward-level volunteers will visit all the houses to find out the source of waste materials and will report to the squad.

Based on the ward-level reports, panchayat and Corporation authorities will formulate an action plan.

To prevent rat fever, the mission will take up measures to control rats with the help of the Agriculture Department.

The water sources will be chlorinated to check water-borne diseases such as cholera and typhoid.
