The police are yet to verify the passport and other travel details of the Bangladeshi girl who reportedly escaped from the custody of flesh traders in the city. The girl has told the police that the documents are currently with a family settled in Bangalore.

The police team, led by Circle Inspector Prakasan Padannayil of the Nadakkavu station, contacted the Bengaluru residents to secure the documents. Police officers did not reveal how the family in Bengaluru had secured the girl’s documents.

The police would consider the possibility of sending her back home only after verifying the passport and travel documents.

Though there were reports that the girl was married and her husband had accompanied her to various locations, the police ruled out the chance.

The police have also contacted the girl’s parents in Bangladesh who would come to the city shortly. “We have got an assurance from the parents that they would come to meet her. But, the date of arrival or other particulars are yet to be intimated by the family, the police said.

In connection with the case, the Nadakkavu police had arrested six persons who hail from various parts of Malabar. The accused were remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.

According to the police, it was a Kozhikode-based couple who came in contact with the girl during a train journey and brought her to the city.
