Platform for socialists

May 06, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 07:28 am IST - Kozhikode:

A collective of socialists, under the Mass Movement for Socialist Alternative, is organising a four-day programme here from Thursday with the aim of reuniting different political forces with socialist leanings.

The organisers told a press conference here that a national seminar and a study camp would be held as part of the conference. Serious discussions, seminars and assessments were being held in different parts of the world to explore the newer possibilities of adopting socialism as an economic system to substitute capitalism. The seminar and study camp planned here with the participation of renowned leaders and thinkers from different parts of the country was also part of this, said V. Prasad, president of the forum. He said that the possibilities of reintroducing socialism as an economic system could be explored only if the reasons for its past malfunction along with the degeneration of various communist parties were investigated honestly and deeply. “We are planning to provide a serious platform for such honest introspection,” said Dr. Prasad.

Participants from across the State would take part in the study camp titled School of Marxism to be held at the Youth Hostel at East Hill here from May 8. For details, call: Ph: 77363 35904.
