The Popular Front of India (PFI) has protested against the reported move of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to subvert the Malegaon blast case of 2008.
The PFI chairman, K.M. Sherif, said in a statement here that the claim made by the Special Public Prosecutor Rohini Salian that the National Investigation Agency had told her to go slow on the Malegaon blast case was enough to prove that the NIA worked as an affiliate of the Sangh Parivar.
He said that the NIA should not have lowered itself to save the anti-nationals.
Hindutva terror
The incident in which four persons were killed and 79 were injured in the blast showed the real face of Hindutva terror in the country.
Soon after the incident, it was dubbed as Islamic terror. Several Muslims youths were also arrested and tortured by the officials, Mr. Sherif alleged.
Arrest
But the Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad, led by its former chief Hemant Karkare, arrested Sangh Parivar fellow travellers Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, Swami Asimanand, Dayanand Pandey, Major Ramesh Upadhyay ( retd), and Shrikant Prasad Purohit who were allegedly behind the blast.
It was reported that they had carried out the operation using the RDX sourced from the Army, he said.
Credibility
Mr. Sherif said that in the background of the claims of Ms. Salian, the credibility of the NIA was questionable.
Thus, all the cases that are being investigated by the National Investigation Agency should be brought under the direct control of the Supreme Court, he said.
