One more dies of leptospirosis

Eight more suspected cases reported in district

One more leptospirosis death has been reported in Kozhikode district. Ms. Chinammu, 86, from Chaliyam, who had been under treatment at the Government Medical College, Kozhikode, since August 29, died on Wednesday. Eight more suspected cases have been reported in the district, two at Olavanna and one each at Perumanna, Kunnamangalam, Feroke, Kuthiravattam, Venheri and Kuruvattur.

There are four new confirmed cases, one each at Chaliyam, Kuthiravattam, Kuruvattur and Kovooor. At present, there are 322 suspected cases and 147 confirmed cases in the district. There were 20 deaths of which the leptosprosis is confirmed to be the cause in eight cases.
