NRHM rank holders stage protest

June 21, 2013 02:29 pm | Updated 02:29 pm IST - KOZHIKODE:

An action council of NRHM Ayurveda Medical Rank Holders laid siege to the district office of the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) here on Thursday demanding that the State mission initiate measures for recruiting doctors from the latest rank list.

The protestors alleged that the NRHM State unit was sticking to an “unfair practice” of renewing the old contracts without considering new candidates from the latest rank list.

Action council leaders P.I. Mohammed Safeer and C. Mohammed Nabeel said the “unjust practice” was foiling the job opportunity of nearly 8,000 qualified candidates waiting outside. They also alleged that the examination and interview conducted last time for the staff selection was not transparent and that it could be exposed through a fair inquiry.

Action council leaders warned that they would launch protest campaigns in all district headquarters in Kerala to draw the attention of the government to the issue. “After the district-level protests, we will move to the State NRHM office,” they said.
