Mayor A.K. Premajam on Monday inaugurated the Kozhikode Corporation’s facility that offers birth, death and marriage certificates since 1970 online. This makes Kozhikode the first Corporation in the State to have the certificates since 1970 online. “The civic body has a database of over 17 lakh certificates of 45 years,” Prof. Premajam said.
She handed over a printed certificate to former Mayor Thottathil Raveendran to mark the launch of the service. A class on obtaining certificates online was also held on the occasion.
Now residents could procure certificates online via the Corporation website www.kozhikodecorporation.org. A user clicking the option ‘Online Birth, Death and Marriage Certificates’ on the Home page will be directed to a webpage ‘Civil Registrations Sevana’ of the Local Self Government Department.
The webpage could be used in both English and Malayalam. A user can search for other Corporations and municipalities and available data status and get the birth, death, marriage (Hindu), and marriage (common) certificates. The filled in applications could be downloaded and printed.
The user-friendly website has incorporated almost all the hospitals in the city. It also has details of marriage halls, hotels, auditoriums, temples, churches, and mosques.
The website has promptly updated birth registrations till 5.43 p.m. and death registrations till 5.29 p.m. on Monday. Marriages (Hindu registrations) have been updated till March 26 and Marriage (common), till June 4.
