Nod for Kanhangadtown square project

The र4.98-crore town square project for Kanhangad secured administrative sanction from the State government.

District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) officials said the project aims to create

an open and inclusive space for people to engage in recreation activities. It will also include features to bring out the importance of history, culture and heritage of Kasaragod.

The town square will be developed on a 3.44-acre land that belongs to the Revenue Department. The site is located between TB Road and the Edappally-Panvel Highway. The highway bypass and KSTP Road are also adjacent to the site.

Revenue Minister E. Chandrasekharan and District Collector D. Sajith Babu had taken keen interest in the project, said the officials.

Major components of the proposal are amphitheatre with stage having a seating capacity of nearly 320 people, 12 shops and waiting area, cafeteria and kitchen, toilets, feeding room for women, sculptures, and parking facilities for 15 cars and 24 two-wheelers.

The project is prepared by a Kozhikode-based firm of architects.
