Nod for estimates of fishing harbours

Rs.100.84 crore for Koyilandy, Thalayi

The revised estimates submitted for the construction of fishing harbours at Koyilandy and Thalayi have won the approval of the Union government.

As per the new order, Rs.100.84 crore will be spent for the projects.

Discussion held

Union Minister of State for Home Mullappally Ramachandran said in a communication here on Friday that the revised estimates had been approved by the Union government following a discussion with Union Minister for Fisheries Sharad Pawar.

State Fisheries Minister K. Babu also participated in the meeting with Mr. Pawar.

The projects would be a joint venture involving the Union and State governments. As per the assurance given by the Harbour Engineering Wing of the State government, the work would begin once the final approval of the Project Screening Committee came by, Mr. Ramachandran said.
