Following complaints that workers who deliver LPG cylinders at homes were demanding extra payments, the LPG Adalat in Kozhikode on Monday decided to take strict action against any one who do so.

The adalat received complaints related to irregular distribution of LPG cylinders, over-pricing, refusing to deliver at homes and changing the agency without the consent of the consumer.

The adalat, chaired by Deputy Collector C. Biju, resolved all ten complaints received. The officials concerned have been directed to give connection to Sarasu from Thalakkulathur and Molly from Madavoor, who had applied for free LPG connection under the Pradhanmanthri Ujjwal Yojana, but did not receive the benefit.

Meanwhile, the LPG companies have been directed to conduct checking in all houses in every two years to ensure safety of the connections. They, along with the regional agencies should conduct awareness classes among the public.

The cylinders should invariably be delivered at the houses, the Deputy Collector said. He also suggested the public to make use of the online facilities provided by the companies for quick payment.

District Supply Officer Rasheed Muthukkandi and the Taluk level supply officers in the district took part the adalat.
