Nine platoons to take part in R-Day parade

Minister for Social Justice and Panchayats M.K. Muneer will receive the Republic Day salute at the Captain Vikram Maidan at West Hill here at 8.30 a.m. on Monday.

Nine platoons will take part in the parade this year. These are City Armed Reserve Police, Rural Armed Reserve Police, Local Police, City Traffic, Vanitha Police, National Cadets Corps (Army and Navy), Junior NCC (Navy), and Junior NCC (Boys and Girls).

Participating teams

Besides, a team each from the Excise Department and Forest and Wildlife Department, two teams from the Junior Red Cross, Scouts, Guides, Student Police Cadet, and various NCC contingents from educational institutions in the district would also take part in the Republic Day programme.

Facilities have been made at the Vikram Maidan for freedom fighters, women, children and the public to watch the parade.
