New Registrar, Controller of Exams for Calicut varsity

The appointments are on deputation for a year

The Calicut University Syndicate on Thursday decided to appoint C.L. Joshi as the new Registrar and C.C. Babu the new Controller of Examinations of the varsity.

Mr. Joshi is a former member of the Syndicate and an associate professor at St. Thomas College, Thrissur. Mr. Babu is principal, University College, Thiruvananthapuram, and also a former Syndicate member. The appointments are on deputation for a year. It was also decided to stop the benefits to T.A. Abdul Majeed, former Registrar, who lost his job after the government brought in an ordinance. Sources said that the authorities would inform the State government about the financial crisis being faced by the university because of the delay in release of grants. Around ₹20 crore as grants is yet to be released, they added.
