The Nadakkavu police led by Sub Inspector G. Gopakumar recently cracked down on three major gangs who defrauded huge sums of money from various job aspirants from Kozhikode district after running fraudulent job schemes.

The cases were traced within a period of 10 months after an inquiry by a police team.

Six persons have been detained in connection with the cases from various parts of Kerala.

“Inquiry is also under way into other three cases of which two are very serious in nature and we have zeroed in on the accused who operate from distant locations,’ a source said.

All the accused were involved in cheating hundreds of job aspirants from other parts of Kerala as well. The six persons alone pocketed around Rs. 55 lakh from the job aspirants from Kozhikode district. Nurses were the main victims.

All the accused persons had been evading the police for long time taking advantage of the victims’ helplessness in going ahead with legal action and claim the lost amount paid as agency fee.

The victims were all well educated. Most of them were reluctant to reveal the case details as they paid the amount while working with established firms, a source said.

Mr. Gopakumar said his team zeroed in on the big rackets in a scientific way after accurately tracking the bank account details of each member.
